Monday—“Play and Learn Group”, at the Early Intervention building, 80 Pearl Street, Hyannis, 9:30 am-11:00 am, April 2nd– June 11th ( group cancelled April 16th & May 28th) , Miss Bambi & Miss Ellen

Join us for some exploration of toys, sensory materials, stories, songs, a snack, outdoor play (weather permitting) and creative crafts designed for learning. Children learn to play near and with each other, and to practice skills in preparation for preschool.  Appropriate for birth to five years old.       FREE       Registration required

Monthly Monday—”Music & Movement”, at Hyannis Public Library, 401 Main Street, Hyannis, 1:30 pm-2:30 pm, April 2nd, May 7th, June 4th, Miss Ellen

Join us for a music and movement group for children birth to five years of age. Come have fun and learn how music covers all areas of development, such as gross motor development, fine motor development, social-emotional development, and communication.                                    FREE                 Drop-in

NEW GROUP! Monday—Infant Massage group (for families with infants 2-12 months of age), at Sturgis Public Library, 3090 Main Street, (Route 6A), Barnstable, 10:00 am-11:00 am, May 7th, May 21st, June 4th, June 18th, Laura D’Angelo, Certified Educator of Infant Massage

Join us for a four-week session to learn strategies for massaging your baby! Infant massage has numerous benefits, including:  Bonding with your baby and strengthening your relationship/attachment; Helping your baby to calm; Improving relaxation, enabling better sleep patterns; Stimulation of circulatory and nervous systems; Relief of gas, colic, and constipation.  Each session will begin with a relaxation activity and will also include discussion related to child development, reading your baby’s cues, etc.   Handouts will be provided.  Bring a small blanket or use one that is provided.  The instructor, Laura, uses a doll to model, and parents will massage their own baby.                       FREE               Registration required

Tuesday–Long Pasture Wildlife Playgroup, 345 Bone Hill Road, Barnstable, 1:30 pm-2:30 pm,  April 3rd – June 12th (group cancelled April 17th ), Miss Jessica (Long Pasture) & Miss Ellen

Designed for the 4-year-old and 5-year-old child, this program provides a fun learning experience in nature. A Long Pasture Naturalist will engage the group of children with their parents, through fun activities and themed learning experiences at the Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary.   Exploration through sensory, hands-on activities will promote learning about science and nature.  Families will have the opportunity to make nature journals documenting their learning experiences each week.  In addition, gross motor skills will be used when taking a walk through a path or along the grounds of the Wildlife Sanctuary, to observe, and to talk about the surroundings.   Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary is part of the Massachusetts Audubon Society and is located on Barnstable Harbor off 6A, close to Barnstable Village.  There are many ecosystems that you will explore during the program including butterfly-filled meadows, woodland trails, farm animals, vernal pools, ponds and tidal flats!                                            FREE            Registration required

NEW GROUP! Wednesday—Rainbow Dance, at the Early Intervention building, 80 Pearl Street, Hyannis, 9:30 am-10:30 am, April 11th-June 13th   led by Miss Laura (Certified RD Trainee) & Miss Barbara, for families with toddlers, 1.5-3 years of age

Rainbowdance©, Boston Children’s Foundation’s early childhood program, promotes positive attachments with caregivers. Developed by BCF’s Director Dicki Johnson Macy, LMHC, BC-DMT, Rainbowdance establishes a sense of safety, empowerment, and relationships through the weekly repetition of a sequence of songs, gestures, and movements. The repetitive content of groups helps to establish safety and trust, which is necessary for promoting self-esteem and self-regulation, while the rhythm of familiar music can help to soothe children.  Rainbowdance also helps children with special needs, and with behavioral challenges, and in addition, helps with communication. NEW GROUP! Wednesday—“A Mothers Circle” (support group for Mothers & Caregivers), at Sturgis Public Library, 3090 Main Street (Route 6 A), Barnstable, 11:30 am-1:00 pm, April 11th-May 30th, Barbara Johnson, Licensed Mental Health Counselor & Expressive Arts Therapist

Being a new mother or caregiver of an infant brings up a range of emotions and concerns.  This circle of sharing is designed to offer support for this early journey in the life of both the Mother/Caregiver and the infant.  Concerns that may be addressed include post-partum depression, isolation, confusion, anxiety, stress. In an atmosphere of safety and of mutual support, members will co-create shared topics of concern. With the gentle guidance of the facilitator, through discussion, education, expressive exercises, and interactions with their infants as well with each other, members will deepen their understanding of themselves, of their infants, and of this precious timeframe of birth to walking age. We will also have fun at the same time! Each mother or caregiver will be gifted a booklet to use and take home for journaling and note-taking during this series.            FREE            Registration required

Thursday—“Your Golden Feather”, Parent Group with childcare, at the Early Intervention building, 80 Pearl Street, Hyannis, 12:30 pm-2:00 pm,  April 5th-June 14th,  Miss Barbara & Miss Ellen (childcare)        Because of the support focus of the group, a consistent commitment is preferred

‘Your Golden Feather’ is a Creative Arts, self-discovery support group series for Parents, childcare provided.  This group series draws upon the rich road map of ageless fairytales, myths, and nighttime dreams, to unveil inspiration, renewal, and guidance for each person’s current soul-drama.  Taking time to nurture ourselves also blesses our children. As a closure, each member of the group is invited to share, if they are willing, a brief enactment or other creation on a personal or social theme explored during the series.                 FREE         Registration required
