Summer 2018 Barnstable Coordinated Family & Community Engagement (CFCE) Programs  at Cape Cod Child Development



Funded by Cape Cod Child Development and the Coordinated Family and Community Engagement Grant of the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care. Monday—“Play and Learn Group”, at the Early Intervention building, 80 Pearl Street, Hyannis, 9:30 am-11:00 am, July 9th – August 13th , Miss Bambi & Miss Ellen

Join us for some exploration of toys, sensory materials, stories, songs, a snack, outdoor play (weather permitting) and creative crafts designed for learning. Children learn to play near and with each other, and to practice skills in preparation for preschool.  Appropriate for birth to five years old.       FREE       Registration required


Monthly Monday—”Music & Movement”, at Hyannis Public Library, 401 Main Street, Hyannis, 1:30 pm-2:30 pm, July 9th, August 6th, Miss Ellen

Join us for a music and movement group for children birth to five years of age. Come have fun and learn how music covers all areas of development, such as gross motor development, fine motor development, social-emotional development, and communication.

Tuesday–Long Pasture Wildlife Playgroup, 345 Bone Hill Road, Barnstable, 10:30 am- 11:30 am, July 24th -August 14th, Miss Jessica (Long Pasture) & Miss Ellen

Designed for the 4-year-old and 5-year-old child, this program provides a fun learning experience in nature. A Long Pasture Naturalist will engage the group of children with their parents, through fun activities and themed learning experiences at the Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary.   Exploration through sensory, hands-on activities will promote learning about science and nature.  Families will have the opportunity to make nature journals documenting their learning experiences each week.  In addition, gross motor skills will be used when taking a walk through a path or along the grounds of the Wildlife Sanctuary, to observe, and to talk about the surroundings.   Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary is part of the Massachusetts Audubon Society and is located on Barnstable Harbor off 6A, close to Barnstable Village.  There are many ecosystems that you will explore during the program including butterfly-filled meadows, woodland trails, farm animals, vernal pools, ponds and tidal flats!    FREE   Registration required


Wednesday—The Learning Tree: A Caregiver & Child Literacy Program, Cromwell Court, 168 Barnstable Road, Hyannis, 9:30 am-10:30 am, July 11th-August 15th, Miss Nicole   Note: The group is open to all families with young children in the community.

Join Miss Nicole for enrichment activities that will support your 3 to 5 year old’s school readiness. Activities will include stories, movement, arts & crafts, music and more! Families Will receive free books!
