NEW GROUP! Wednesday—Rainbow Dance, at the Early Intervention building, 80 Pearl Street, Hyannis, 9:30am-10:30 am, April 11th-June 13th, led by Miss Laura (Certified RD Trainee) & Miss Barbara, for families with toddlers, 1.5-3 years of age
Rainbowdance©, Boston Children’s Foundation’s early childhood program, promotes positive attachments with caregivers. Developed by BCF’s Director Dicki Johnson Macy, LMHC, BC-DMT, Rainbowdance establishes a sense of safety, empowerment, and relationships through the weekly repetition of a sequence of songs, gestures, and movements. The repetitive content of groups helps to establish safety and trust, which is necessary for promoting self-esteem and self-regulation, while the rhythm of familiar music can help to soothe children. Rainbowdance also helps children with special needs, and with behavioral challenges, and in addition, helps with communication. As a closure, each member of the group is invited to share, if they are willing, a brief enactment or other creation on a personal or social theme explored during the series.
